Joseph C. Ostroski, 89, passed away at his home in Titusville on October 15, 2016. He was born in Avoca, Pennsylvania on July 4, 1927 to Francis and Catherine Ostroski. Joseph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stephanie Ostroski, his 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Joseph was a graduate of Avoca High School and Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he received a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering. He was named the partner in the engineering-argricultural firm of Bellante, Clauss, Miller & Nolan. Joseph was cited for his work on the Meadowlands Sports Complex. The complex that was developed for New Jersey Sports and Exposition authority at a cost of approximately $340 million includes the New York Giants football stadium and the Meadowlands Racetrack. Joseph was named Engineer of the Year by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers for his work on the project and for many other accomplishments of his. He was a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and Florida. Joseph was a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and president-elect of the Lehigh Valley Section. He was also a member and past chapter president of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and member and past national director of the American Society of Highway Engineers.
Along with all of Joseph's career accomplishments he was also a past member and very active in Rotary and served our country in the United States Navy. Some of his passions included fishing, golf, painting, skiing, and most of all traveling. Some of his adventures included travelling to Yellowstone, Colorado Springs, Italy, Switzerland, a cruise to Alaska and taking river cruises. His favorite trip was having the honor of traveling to Washington DC with the Central Florida Honor Flight along with other veterans who had served in World War II.
A visitation will be held for Joseph Ostroski on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will take place at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 9:00am. On Monday, October 24, 2016 the family will have a private graveside service for Joseph at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery where he will be lid to rest with his fallen brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph's name to the Honor Flight-Central Florida or to the Catholic Relief Services.
