Jerry Thomas Yontz, 85, of Lake Mary, FL passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Jerry was born July 22, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio; the son of Kenneth and Blanche Yontz. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Donahue Yontz, and they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Jerry always found joy in making people happy and was known for saying “You are the greatest” whenever he met someone. He was a family man who loved big gatherings of family and friends. Toward the end of his career Jerry found joy working for the Seminole County Schools as a Transportation Safety Officer, but he started his career as a law enforcement officer in Ohio and also enjoyed many successful years in the Insurance Industry in Nebraska, before moving to Florida. He enjoyed all types of sports and loved being outdoors. He was a multi-sport All State athlete in his youth, and an avid golfer throughout his life. He loved the University of Nebraska football program and was often seen walking the sideline during games. Jerry is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Theresa Sapp and husband Jim, Ken Yontz and wife Diane, Kevin Yontz and wife Joyce, and Karen Yontz-Capoun. His grandchildren Jennifer, Kristina, Lindsey, Courtney, Jeff, Ryan, Kyle, Nathan, Nicholas, Natalie and seven great children. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, his mother Blanche, his brothers Bob, Jack, Gene and his sister Joan. Visitation will be held at Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, with funeral mass beginning at 2:00 pm.
