It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Clayton announces that he began his eternal celebration with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 17, 2020 after a short illness. Dick (as he was known to his family) is remembered by his wife and companion of 59 years, Joyce.
He is survived by his son Tracy and his wife Karen, his son Scott, his son Denny and his wife Jennifer, and his first grandchild Ryan along with grandchildren Wyatt, Olivia, Logan, Julia, Chase and Brynlee.
Born in Memphis, TN, he is preceded in death by his father and mother Jimmy and Maureen Clayton and is survived by his sisters Denise Davison (Paul) and Judy Logan (Terry). Jim served eight years in the US Navy and met his wife Joyce in Sanford, FL where they married on October 26, 1961. After leaving the Navy, he spent most of his career as an engineer with IBM.
His greatest joy and our fondest memory of him was his unwavering love of Jesus Christ, and his never-ending witness to bring others to know his Savior as their own. Jim is also fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
He was a skilled woodworker, artist, singer, and orator and passed along those talents to his children, who strive daily to live up to the example his life represented.
Dick, Jim, Dad, and Grandpa, we love you and miss you, but are so grateful that you are celebrating with Jesus today and we look forward to the day when we will rejoin you in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you donate in Jim’s name to the Missions Fund of Grace 360 Church of Sanford at PO Box 2144 Sanford, FL 32771.
