Homer Gerald "Jerry" Tackett, 79, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 in Lake Mary, Florida. He was born January 7, 1939 in Robinson Creek, Kentucky to Homer and Marie Tackett. Jerry leaves behind his loving wife of 44+ years, Virginia Tackett, his son Mikel Brett Tackett of Citrus County, daughters Pamela Denise Blanton (Jim) of Mt. Dora, Lisa Renee Badders of Sorrento, Ginjer Anne Fassold (Bill) of Ft. Myers and his grandchildren Josh Blanton (Jennifer), Jason Blanton (Charlotte), Amanda Badders, Connor Fassold, Hannah Fassold, Hayes Tackett, Dane Tackett and Azlynn Tackett. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren Parker, Brock, Brynn and Jackson Blanton, his brother Dr. Larry Ronald Tackett and sister Sharon Jill Tackett along with many other family members and a multitude of friends who loved, admired and respected a wonderful man who had a heart of gold who was giving and caring and expected little in return. Jerry was in the medical field. As a medical technologist he was Chief Technologist of hospitals in Kentucky and Florida. He cofounded Mid-Florida Biologicals in the early 1970's with Charles Badger, pioneers in Plasmapheresis and for almost 30 years sold and supplied plasma and whole blood for the global manufacturing of the Rho-Gam shot for RH-negative mothers and blood typings. As an avid sports fan he enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats, Orlando Magic and Miami Dolphins and when younger boating and deep-sea fishing. He was a humble, unassuming man adored and loved by all who will be greatly missed forever. Graveside service was held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Oaklawn Park Cemetery in Sanford, Florida. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jerry's honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
