BOWER, DANIEL ALLEN, 66, of Lake Mary, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born on September 8th, 1948 in Decatur, Illinois to Ila Bower and the late Thomas C. Bower. During his childhood he was devoted to the Boy Scouts of America and received the God and Country Award as an Eagle Scout. At the age of 15, he and his family moved from Illinois to Orlando where he attended Edgewater High School. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the military. He was stationed aboard the U.S. Navy’s USS Lexington in Pensacola and Boston. While in the Navy, he developed skills as an electrician and received an honorable discharge in 1971. It was in that same year that he met Aurelie, his future wife of 43 years. He and Aurelie were blessed with two sons, Christopher and Patrick. He is also survived by his mother, Ila, and his brother Thomas L. Bower (Barbara). He was employed as an electrician at The Orlando Sentinel in 1973 and retired after 39 years as Facility Maintenance Manager in 2010. For more than three decades he was passionately involved with the Shriners organization, tirelessly supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children charity. His commitment included membership as a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He expanded his dedication to the Shriner organization by leading the team that organized the annual Shriners Circus fundraising event in Orlando. Based on his commitment to this amazing organization, he was invited to join an exclusive group within the Shriners known as the Royal Order of Jesters, in which he was very involved. His greatest joy was his family – his wife, his two successful children, Christopher (Jeffery) and Patrick (Daniele); and two young grandchildren, Colton and Blake. Throughout his life, Daniel Bower dedicated his life to doing what made he and his family and friends happy. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him as “one of the great ones”. His wife and children would like to thank all of the medical professionals who over the many years provided amazing health care and support. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Hospice of the Comforter, 480 West Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
