Carl Schilke passed away on February 9 at the age of 97. Born March 17, 1919 in Jersey City, NJ, Carl was the oldest of four brothers. He served in WWII in the 1940s, held dual degrees in Law and Accounting, and enjoyed a long career including roles as banker, analyst and executive. He founded Harcar Aluminum Products in 1957 on a shoestring budget in an old fertilizer shed. The company grew to $18 million in revenue and over 300 employees before Carl retired in 1993. Married to Shirley Platt in 1944, Carl & Shirley enjoyed 68 years of marriage before her passing in 2013. Carl leaves son Richard (Susan); daughters Wendy (Larry) Pisto; and Kristie (Vance) Brumbaugh; five grandchildren - Jeff & Rick Brumbaugh, and Samantha, Michael & Steven Schilke; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb & Dylan Brumbaugh. After retirement, Carl enjoyed time with Shirley and his family (especially his grandchildren!), the mountains of North Carolina, and providing loving care to his four cats!
