Carl Douglas Marshall

Carl Douglas Marshall ( Bobbin) of Heathrow , Florida, age 72, born January 4th, 1943, in Guyana, South America , to Lillian and Thomas ( Auey to his children and their friends) Marshall , was called to his eternal home in the early morning of February 25th , 2015. At his bedside was his loving wife of 44years, Ruth. Carl attended primary school at Bedford Methodist and high school at BG Educational Trust in Georgetown, Guyana. He graduated from Guyana Technical Institute as a Sworn Land Surveyor and in 1966 he migrated to the United States where he attended Howard University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. In 1970 he married the love of his life, Ruth Callender, and true to his wedding vows ' to love and to cherish until death do us part, he loved her, cherished her and only death has now parted them. Carl and Ruth lived in the DC/ Maryland/ Virginia area where he worked as a civil engineer for De Leuw Cather/ Parsons and later for the District of Columbia until he retired in 2005 and moved with his wife to Heathrow, Florida. Carl's infectious smile and his caring, loving, generous and unselfish ways made him the favorite uncle, the favorite brother-in-law and the favorite, friend to all who met him. In addition to Ruth, his family and friends, he loved golfing and travelling. Carl is survived by his wife Ruth Marshall, his siblings: Pansy Browne, Steve Marshall, Melville Marshall, Lurlene Winter, Hubert Marshall and Dr. Cheryl Marshall, as well as his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, several in-laws and a host of close friends. He leaves us all with many wonderful memories which we will embrace and cherish throughout our lives until we meet him again. We love you, Carl.
