Betty Elaine Parker, 76, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on November 24th 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in Sanford Florida on November 6, 1943. She lived most of her life in Sanford and retired from Star Systems Incorporated where she was an Accounts Payable Administrator. She moved to Ormond Beach in 2017 after visiting the area for a weekend getaway; she fell in love with her home in The Falls at Ormond Beach community which she shared with her loving partner John Sullivan.
Betty was a loving mother and friend. Family was her number one priority. She was always available to listen, offer advice, and when needed a firm nudge in the right direction. She loved to retell stories from past family gatherings as these were her most cherished memories. She enjoyed traveling and had many great adventures. She loved all animals and her pekingese named Precious held a very special place in her heart and was surely waiting for her at the gates of heaven. Betty loved the outdoors, walks on the beach, and spending time tending to the many flowers in her yard. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds that would visit the tropical flowers in her yard and the cardinals that would gather at the bird feeder just outside her kitchen window. Betty had a strong faith and showed it through her constant service to, and sacrifice for, others. She cared for many friends and family in their times of need and remained steadfastly independent during her courageous battle with COPD. Betty was very active in the Friends of Bill W. community for the last 36 years where she mentored many on their journeys through life’s struggles. Betty will be missed by many and never forgotten.
Betty is survived by her two children Chris Butler (married to Bobbi Butler) of Sanford Florida and Debbie Trasente (married to Angela Trasente) of Jacksonville, FL. She had 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Carol Mitchell and her parents James D. and Marion A. McNeill.
A celebration of life will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild–Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford on Monday December 2nd, 2019. Visitation will be at eleven o’clock followed by a service at noon.
