William O’Connor Reese, Jr., 90, of Marietta died on Friday, the 29th of May, 2015. A native Atlantan he was born on the 5th of October, 1924. In April 1950 he married Mary Chambers who preceded him in death and they had two children, Carol and her husband, Albert Bianco and Andy and his wife Kris Reese; also surviving are grandchildren, Andrew Reese, Lydia and her husband Mike Alleman, Albert Bianco, III, Harrison, Nathaniel, Teresa, Claudia, and Priscilla Bianco; great-granddaughter, Zoey Alleman; A twin brother, Robert B. Reese, Sr., sister-in-law, Louise Reese; several nieces, nephews, and second wife, Wanda Craven Reese. During WWII, Mr. Reese served in the U. S. Navy as a Pharmacist Mate at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He received his undergraduate degree from UGA and his Master’s degree from Peabody College in Nashville, TN. He was employed in public education in Cobb and Paulding Counties for 30 years. He served in Cobb County as principal at Sky View Elementary, Teasley Elementary, Russell Elementary, and Nash Junior High School. He ended his publication career as a history teacher at Paulding Junior High School in Dallas, GA. Mr. Reese was an avid reader of history and biographies, and maintained a small library at his home. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Monday, the 1st of June from six until eight o’clock in the evening at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday the 2nd of June at half past eleven o’clock in the morning at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega, GA with the Reverend Rick Statham officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Log Cabin Community Church, 2699 Log Cabin Drive, SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.
