William S. “Bill” Hodges, 87, of Alpharetta died Wednesday, the 16th of October, 2013 peacefully at his residence. Born in Douglasville, he grew up in Decatur where he was a graduate of Decatur High School, “Class of 1944”. Bill continued his studies at the University of Georgia and enjoyed playing the position of starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in Cuba. In business he had an honest approach for which he will be remembered and was admired for his southern gentlemanly charm. An avid golfer and a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club, he never missed an opportunity to T-off. But most importantly Bill was a tremendous and exceptional husband and father. He was preceded to the Lord's house by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Jean Rollins Hodges, daughter, Lisa Louise Hodges and his son, William S. Hodges Jr. Surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas L. Hodges, Jr. and Jackie Hodges his six children, Robert P. and Anne Hodges, James Alex Hodges and Karen Hodges their two children; brother-in-law, Luther C. Rollins Jr.; his four children, Trey, Chet, Art, and Marlyn; and dear family friends, Chet and Melissa Lacy and their two children. The family would like to recognize and give very special thanks to Bill’s caregiver of over seven years, Lucia Ngweya. Funeral services celebrating Bill’s life will be held Tuesday, the 22nd of October at three o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel with Dr. G. Gil Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5 Dunwoody Park, Suite 118, Atlanta, GA 30338. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family Tuesday afternoon from two o’clock until the hour of service at H. M.
