She was the daughter of Sara and Marion Stringer, born October 19, 1934 in Augusta, Georgia. Mrs. Mann was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Mann and was married for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Edward Stringer (wife Ruth).
Mrs. Mann’s son, Martin William Mann preceded her in death (wife Julie) of Atlanta, GA, and is survived by two daughters, Marsha Mann Perkins (husband Mike) of London, UK , and Julie Mann Riggs (husband Clarence) of Winter Park, FL and four grandchildren Katie Mann Penland (husband Seth), Tyler Mann (wife Erica), Ryan Perkins (wife Emma), and Sean Perkins.
As a resident of Atlanta for most of her life, Mrs. Mann was a co-founder of Mann Mechanical Company in Avondale Estates and worked alongside her husband for many years, until they retired to Highlands, NC, where they lived for over 15 years. She was very active in the Highlands community and was a member of the Episcopal Church and past-president of the Mountain Garden Club of Highlands. Sara was a thoughtful friend to many, but she would say her greatest calling in life was raising her family. She was an intelligent, beautiful and independent lady, and a truly devoted wife and mother.
After cremation, the family will have a private memorial service at the request of the deceased. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Sara Mann to the Alzheimer's Association, the Bascom Legacy Fund at Bascom Fine Arts Center in Highlands, or The Bell Tower Fund at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation.
