Robert Clifton Postell, age 55, died at his home on February 3, 2011. Bob was born on the first day of January, 1956 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up in Atlanta, Bob was the oldest of three children, and anyone that knew Bob would say that his love for everything “cars” was evident. He went on to participate in SCCA National Racing and won the SCCA National SSB Class Championship in a Peugeot at the Runoffs at Road Atlanta in 1989. Bob began his career as a realtor for Metro Brokers in Roswell, Georgia. However, his love of racing, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and business savvy led Bob to begin his own automotive safety equipment business out of his basement, Racer Wholesale, now called G-Force. The business took off in the late 80's and became the most trusted source for safety equipment for amateur racers. Bob was an idea machine and always looking for the next item that would boost his presence as the premier safety equipment provider. His creativity in business and life continually amazed his family and friends—and Bob was always willing to share his thoughts and advice with others who sought it. Without a doubt, he made an indelible mark on the automotive aftermarket and will be missed by many in the racing and business community. Though Bob enjoyed time at the racetrack and hours spent tinkering in his woodshop, he loved his family most of all. They were his pride and joy and most prized possession. A passion of his was traveling cross country in their motor home, with his family by his side, or spending time at their lake house in Ellijay. He is survived by his wife, Joan Putman Postell, daughter Samantha Jean Postell, son Taylor Guy Postell, and brother David Brian Postell, all of Alpharetta, Georgia. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at Sandy Springs Chapel in Atlanta on February 9th at 11:00 a.m.
