

Robert Vance Elliott, Jr., age 75, resident of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 2nd, 2025 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on August 14, 1949.He was a graduate of W. F. Dykes High School where he served as president of the junior class. He graduated with a degree in business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was captain of the Tarheels baseball team. He had a career in banking at C&S Bank. Subsequently he was the president of Dodson Global steel company.
Bob was an avid sportsman including baseball, basketball , tennis, golf, and squash. His first love was baseball. He played second base on the Dykes High School baseball team which advanced to city and state championships. He played on the 1969 Taber Pontiac team that won the Stan Musial World Series championship. He was a scholarship baseball player at UNC Chapel Hill. He was runner up for ACC player of the year as a senior. Subsequently he played on championship Stan Musial World Series teams, the Atlanta Yankees, in 1983 and 1989. He also coached the teams that won the Stan Musial World Series in 2003 and 2004. He enjoyed teaching and mentoring young players and served as a volunteer coach for Marist High School baseball for many years until his illness.
