Norman Silver, 80, passed away on January 18, 2015 surrounded by family following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease which he bravely fought for 17 years. As a loving husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years Miriam Cribbs Silver, son Joseph Silver and wife Sarah, son Jason Silver and wife Tawnya, granddaughter Sidney Silver and grandson Harrison Silver, all of Atlanta. Norman was a lifelong resident of Atlanta. He grew up in the Grant Park area and worked for his family’s grocery store as a child. He was an accomplished athlete, graduating from Smith High School with letters in baseball, basketball and football. After serving in the Army, he attended SMU, UGA and graduated from Georgia State College. Norman continued to enjoy sports as an adult and often spent time exercising and playing tennis with friends and family. For more than 50 years, Norman worked as a sales executive for Atlanta Fixture & Sales Co. and received numerous sales awards and accolades. He was known as a skilled negotiator and mentor to other sales professionals. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time in Hilton Head, cheering for his favorite Atlanta sports teams, and spending time with his family. He was also a member of Temple Sinai synagogue. Funeral services will be Monday, January 19, 2014 at 2 o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel in Sandy Springs. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
