Born February 20, 1949 in Ellaville, GA, Tracy moved with her family to Atlanta when she was three years old, residing in Decatur through her high school years and moving to Sandy Springs in 1985.
Tracy loved gardening, entertaining and helping others. She was at her happiest on Seabrook Island, near Charleston SC, with her toes in the sand and watching the waves roll in.
She fought a brave and spirited three year fight against ovarian cancer. In spite of her courage and determination, it finally took her away from these earthly domains.
Tracy is predeceased by her parents Mary McMickle Gilchrist (2005) and John Porter (Jack) Gilchrist (2016) of Ellaville, GA. She is survived by her husband, Carl Bortle, her son Geoffrey Rhyne (Kelly) of Greenville, SC; daughter Daphne Rhyne Cousineau (Brent Schultz) of Gaylord, MI, and granddaughters, Mary, Caroline, and Kate Cousineau, Ella Rhyne; grandsons, Thomas Cousineau and Jackson and Griffin Rhyne, brothers John (Jo Anne) and Drew Gilchrist, sister Vicki Gilchrist, as well as many friends and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held at the family residence from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Saturday, November 5th. It is requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to IDefine (in honor of her granddaughter, Ella) or Harts of Teal (in support of ovarian cancer).
