Mark R. Hopkins, 63, passed away April 10th, 2011, at home following his courageous battle with cancer. He graduated with honors with an Interior Design Degree from Memphis College of Art in 1971. Mark was an icon in the hospitality industry, moving from interior design with Nationwide Supply Co., Innkeepers Supply Co., and Design Alternatives (owner) in Memphis, Tn., to procurement with such prestigious companies as Harrah’s Entertainment, Gaylord Entertainment, and Intercontinental Hotels Group. He was an avid outdoors sportsman-enjoying hunting, fishing, golf, and skeet shooting (Tennessee State Champion). Mark was preceded in death by his brother Sam Hopkins. His survivors include his wife of 34 years, Shirley Raider Hopkins; children-son, Joshua Hopkins, and daughter, Ashley Burns and husband Brandon of Atlanta; parents, Charles and Dixie Hopkins of Cape Girardeau, MO.; and siblings, Gregg Hopkins and wife Ann of St. Louis, and Sarah Hopkins of Cape Girardeau. Funeral services will be held at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy. Sandy Springs, April 12th at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be in Marble Hill, Missouri, his birthplace. Liley Funeral Home has charge.
