A native Atlantan, Marion was born on East Paces Ferry Road on February 27, 1932. Her love of horses, which she inherited from her beloved father, began at an early age. She grew up on Lenox Road and loved riding in the open field where Lenox Square is now. As a youth, she volunteered with the USO as a Junior Hostess, dancing the jitterbug, something she loved her whole life, with the servicemen at USO events during WWII and beyond. She was an honor graduate of North Fulton High School and upon graduation entered the workforce. In the 1950’s, she took great pride in her years working as a switchboard operator for the FBI, a job she adored and where she became known as the “Golden Voice of the Atlanta Airways.” She was married in 1951 to William C. Rary, Sr. (Bill) and recently celebrated 66 years together. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother. She was a Girl Scout leader, taught MYF at St. John United Methodist Church and encouraged and supported her children in all their endeavors, instilling in them to always do their best and even more importantly, through her example, to be kind and caring people. At St. John, she shared her compassion for others through her mission of visiting nursing homes with her loving friend Mrs. Mac. She is proceeded in death by her father and mother, James Morgan Anderson Sr. and Olivia Burgess Anderson, her brothers and sister, James Morgan Anderson, Jr. Charlie Anderson and Evelyn Anderson Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, William Carlton Rary, Sr., daughters Judy Rary Lagrone (Glenn), Susan Rary Ruiz (Ivan), son William Carlton Rary, Jr. (Catherine) and Arnold Pierce Reynolds, Grandchildren, Grant Carlton Reynolds (Meagan), Cameron Pierce Reynolds, Kevin Michael Ruiz (Molly) Rebecca Morgan Ruiz, Lucas Carlton Rary, William Christian Rary and great grandchildren, Emmalyn Olivia Reynolds and Pierce Carlton Reynolds, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was an angel on earth and now in Heaven. She will be remembered as being fiercely loyal to her children and grandchildren and a devoted wife. Her lifelong radiant beauty was only surpassed by her warm and selfless loving spirit. We will miss her every day but are comforted that she is “Home” with her daddy and mother. The family will receive visitors at Sandy Springs Chapel on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A graveside Service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 a.m.
