Dr. Luther C. Rollins 89 of Atlanta died on October 11, 2015 peacefully at his Atlanta residence. Dr. Rollins was preceded to the Lord's house by his loving wife of 44 years, Frankie Whelchel Rollins and son, Randolph Palmour Rollins. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Friday October 16, 2015 H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Northside United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Dr. Gil Watson will officiate. Dr. Rollins born April 22, 1926 in Greensboro, NC and resided in Atlanta most of his life. He was the son of the late Dr. Luther C Rollins, Sr. and Dorothy Tumlin Rollins. He was a graduate of Hinesville High, NC, and UGA where he played trumpet in the Redcoat Marching Band. He served in the Navy on the ship Sarita in Japan during WWII. Luther graduated from Emory Medical School with a degree in General Surgery. He practiced medicine at Piedmont Hospital for over 30 years. He was a long-standing member of Northside United Methodist Church and enjoyed leading his Sunday School Class in singing. Luther had many interest including farming, snow skiing, tennis, music, and wine making. He was long time supporter, Board Member, and participant in the Atlanta Boy Choir. Luther will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are his three sons and daughter, Trey and Jeannine Rollins and their children, Sarah, Madeline, and Jesslyn; Chet and Allison Rollins and their children, Palmour, Sam, Laura, and Buck; Art and Cathy Rollins and their children, Win and his wife, Katie, Caroline, and Craig Owens; and Marlyn and Owens Chapman and their children, Jack, Katie, Frankie, Leslie, and Rollins. The family would like to give a heartfelt Thanks to Luther's caregiver, Evonne Ming.
