She was born on November 1, 1945 to Thomas and Elizabeth Schweitzer in Scranton, PA, growing up in Fleetville, with her siblings Betsy, Tommy, Gretchen, and David.
Lee attended Penn State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and earned her degree as teacher. Tired of the cold winters in Pennsylvania, she flew across the country to Monterey, CA where she met her husband, Captain Robert D. Reeves II, USN Retired.
With the birth of her two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Anne Caroline, Lee retired from teaching and focused on creating a loving home and raising two bad ass girls. She loved finding and sharing new recipes and cooking delicious meals for family and friends. During her free time, she played tennis and bridge.
Throughout her life, Lee was very active in the church, often serving as a reader, and vestry member. She was a founding member of All Saints Anglican Church in Gainesville, FL, before moving to Atlanta to live near her daughters.
Lee is survived by her daughter, Sarah Reeves; her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Todd Reich; her two grandsons, Reeves and Cannon Reich; all of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her siblings, Betsy Witt (Fincastle, VA), Gretchen Tiblin, (Spotsylvania, VA), and David and Sandy Schweitzer (Fleetville, PA), and her sister-in-law Lynn Thayer of Raynham, MA.
Her daughters would like to express their gratitude to Hammond Glen and The Fountanview Center for their empathetic care of Lee as she battled Parkinson’s disease and eventually dementia.
Memorial services will be held at Dunwoody United Methodist Church at 11 am on Friday, June 23, 2023. Her burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (michaeljfox.org).
