Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23, at 1:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Dr. William D. Coker will officiate. The family will greet friends and family on Thursday, August 23, at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 starting at 11:00 AM.
Larry was born in Cairo, Georgia and grew up on a family farm. He proudly served his country as a Navy pilot during Vietnam. He went on to graduate from Georgia State University with a degree in Business. Later, he gained a Master’s degree from Albany State University. During this time, he worked for the Georgia Department of Audits and the Dougherty County Board of Education as Director of Finance.
He was a long standing member of the Albany Kiwanis Club, past president of Friendship Force International, past treasurer of Theatre Albany, member of the Albany Men’s Garden Club, treasurer of Covenant Presbyterian Church preschool, member of the Elks Club, and deacon and elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
He also enjoyed volunteering his time preparing tax returns for the elderly. He was an avid photographer documenting his travels around the world. Between trips, he investigated genealogy and the history of his family.
He was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Worbie Sellers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jill Sellers, son Michael Sellers (Heike), daughter Rebecca Drumm (Dave) and two grandsons Ryan and Dylan Drumm and two granddaughters Anna and Emily Sellers. Larry is survived by two brothers, Dr. James E. Sellers (Thelma) and Carroll Lee Sellers (Suzanne).
He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.
