Kyle Hendry Burkhalter, 31, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Duluth, Georgia. Kyle was a kind son, loving brother, and an amazing friend with a big heart. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 28, 1983. He grew up in Sandy Springs where he attended North Springs High School and graduated from The Cottage School. Kyle worked as a restaurant manager for several T.G. I. Friday's in the Atlanta area, where his charismatic charm and handsome smile created friendships with co-workers and customers. His talent and ability to serve with a smile, and his "flair," or juggling, behind the bar impressed all who watched. He truly had a soul that was loved by everyone who met him. When his brother Matt gave up on learning the guitar, Kyle picked it up and never put it down. His abilities were amazing, and he played and wrote music constantly. Kyle and his father, Swint, enjoyed many hunting and golfing excursions together. They also shared a common interest in everything Georgia Tech. Recently, Kyle found a love of cooking, which he picked up from his mother, Mary Jane. From his parents: "Thirty one years ago we prayed to the Lord for another baby. He answered our prayers, with the precious gift of Kyle. We loved him dearly for thirty one years, and he knew it. He has now returned to the Lord where there is no more sorrow or weeping. He is whole again. We praise the Lord and thank him for our time we shared with Kyle. 'The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.'" Kyle is preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. John L. Yates of Savannah, and is survived by his grandmother Mrs. John L. Yates of Savannah, his parents Swinton and Mary Jane Burkhalter of Jasper, GA, his brothers, Matt Burkhalter of Atlanta, and Swint (Leslie) Burkhalter, III of Millersville, MD, niece Lindsay and nephew John, and many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. A service celebrating Kyle's life will be held on Friday, November 14, at 11 a.m. at The Church of The Apostles, 3585 Northside Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30327. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following organizations: Leading The Way with Dr. Michael Youssef, The Wears Valley Ranch, or Atlanta Music Project.
