With shattered hearts, we announce the passing of our miracle son, Joshua “Josh” Michael Patrick, on January 30, 2025, in his Savannah apartment. Josh was born to Richard and Ilene Patrick of Smyrna, GA on February 12, 2001. From the moment he was born, he brought enormous love, joy and fun to his parents, sisters, extended family and friends. While the cause of Josh’s death is unknown, we find comfort in knowing he is safe in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
Josh loved God and was baptized on Easter Sunday, 2024, at Connection Church near Savannah, GA. At Connection Church, Josh was a member of a young men’s bible study and participated in a 1-on-1 discipleship. Josh prayed with his parents frequently.
Josh attended The Trinity School for grades Pre-K through 5, loving every minute of the school’s fun learning experiences and many enrichment programs. He then moved on to The Lovett School for grades 6-12, where he graduated with high honors in 2019. At a very early age, Josh expressed a love for Math and Science. At 3 years old, Josh insisted on counting the packages of coffee in the grocery store, leading to very long grocery visits. He continued his STEM path by attending the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a B.S. with honors in Mechanical Engineering in 2023. Josh was a member of Delta Chi fraternity at Georgia Tech. He had the same 3-4 roommates throughout his college experience and thoroughly enjoyed much camaraderie and fun with them. Upon graduation, he took a job as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA. He quickly became friends with members of his work team and enjoyed sports banter and outdoor activities with them on weekends.
Josh had many interests and passions including football, fishing, golf, collecting and music. He was a wonderful athlete, participating in football, soccer, baseball, wrestling, karate and track and field. His favorite team was the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and as an alum, he attended as many games as possible, fully adorned from head to toe in Georgia Tech attire. Josh had large collections of sports memorabilia, Legos and Magic the Gathering cards. He loved to get together with friends and family, especially for holidays and special occasion celebrations. He was a great gift giver and chose meaningful and sentimental gifts, especially for his parents. Josh was a very happy young man, never passing up on an opportunity to have fun with his friends. Josh was a loyal and wonderful friend, spending time with friends in need and providing compassionate and helpful advice when asked. Josh always had a smile and cheerful greetings for everyone he met. He truly knew how to endear himself to others. He considered himself extraordinarily blessed and believed in giving back to those in need. He donated to several charities including the Shriners Hospital for Children and the United Breast Cancer Foundation.
Above all, Josh loved his parents and his home. During college and after moving to Savannah for work, Josh took every opportunity possible to spend time at home. He was a kid at heart and built a snowman during our last snow. He loved to bring friends to his home, watch movies and dine with his parents, and play with his beloved dog, Jake, and 3 cats.
Josh is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Julius and Joan Demsky and his fraternal grandparents, Neal and Joan Patrick. He is also predeceased by his doting aunt, Ellen Jane Demsky, who was like a second mother to him, and a great aunt Gishy Aronson. In addition to his devastated parents, Josh is survived by his sisters, Sally (Dave) Bohatch, and Katie (Clint) Patrick, nieces and nephews Luke and Summer Bohatch and Brady and Darcie Kate Patrick, uncle Steve Patrick, great aunt Sandra (Jim) Granade and cousins Jacqueline Aronson, Steve and Barbara Aronson, Sharon and Richard Lerner, Jason Patrick, Rachel Bullard and Jeremy Granade.
Josh’s parents and loved ones are devastated at his untimely passing. He is loved and missed eternally. May he rest in peace and may his memory forever be a blessing to those who loved him.
The family welcomes all to a visitation on Saturday, February 22 from 10:30 – 12 noon at H.M. Patterson and Son, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA and funeral at 12 noon, same location. A short graveside service will immediately follow. We are blessed to have Reverend Steve Allen officiate both services.
