John Lee Spencer, Sr., of Tucker passed surrounded by his wife and family on June 2, 2024. Mr. Spencer was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 24, 1943 and was the son of the late Ralph and Doris Spencer.
An Army veteran, John was an avid supporter and dedicated member of the Norcross Lions Club for 33 years. His lifetime passions included his family, bowling, shooting pool, precious gem collecting and he was an admirer of all things nature, especially his ferns. He relished in coaching his children’s bowling league for 9 years. A dedicated scouting dad, he joined alongside his son John in all things scouting, including a 50 mile Cumberland Island hike and seeing his son receive his Eagle Scout designation.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Crymes Spencer. He is survived by his wife and loving companion Judy Anne Whalen, daughter Judy Spencer of Dacula, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Craig Cothern of Dacula; son and daughter-in-law , John Lee, Jr. and Lisa Spencer of Winder; grandchildren, Kenneth Cook, Caleb Cothern, Emory Spencer, Nick Gilbert, Grace Cothern, Kaylee Cothern; and great grandson, Wesley Cook.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 6 to 8 o’clock and Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1 to 2 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 2 o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel with Pastor Torrey Herrin officiating.
Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
