Willa Jean Rowland Funk, “Mimi”, entered the gates of heaven on August 28, 2014, after 90 very full years of life. Her home town was Charleston, Mississippi, where she was born on December 27, 1923 but enjoyed living in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs since 1967. Mrs. H. Selby Funk, as she thought was a proper signature with her fountain pen, was married to a terrific, loving husband (predeceased) for 60 years. Her late parents were Modie “MoMo” Lillian Patterson Rowland and Frederick Turner Rowland. She is survived by her two sons, Rowland Funk (Maggie), Pilot Point, TX and Douglas Funk (Janis Lane, deceased), Raleigh, NC; grandsons, John Funk (Shyla), Houston, TX and Stephen Funk, Dallas, TX; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by the most caring caregiver in the world, Ruby Thomas “Baby Mama” and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. If ever there was a person who could be June Cleaver, Scarlet O’Hara and Miss Manners at the same time, it was Jean. She was energized by her family and friends, and her main goal in this life was loving whoever she came in contact with. Please join in a life celebration and reception on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 1 o’clock at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to The Good Samaritan Fund, Dunwoody UMC, 1548 Mt. Vernon Rd., Dunwoody, GA 30338.
