Janet was born on August 31, 1958 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Leland Clovis Thomas, Sr. and Martha Nell Conine Thomas.
Janet graduated from Peachtree High School in 1976, then attended Berry College in Rome Georgia where she earned a BS degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. While in high school, Janet was an active member of the Flag Corps and Chorus. She had an enduring love for Berry College until her passing.
Janet worked as an Information Technology Analyst specializing in mainframe support, Y2K remediation, and disaster recovery at Southern Company Services, Sun Trust Bank, Affiliated Computer Services, Sapphire Technologies, Inc. and Global Payments, Inc.
Janet loved to travel, especially to the Biltmore House in North Carolina. She absolutely loved decorating her house during Christmas. She enjoyed shopping, watching movies, and cross-stitching. She made several beautiful framed pieces that are displayed proudly around her home. After surviving a stroke a few years ago, as physical therapy she made and gave away unique potholders. Janet was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan. She enjoyed cooking pecan pies and graciously gave these away to family and friends.
Janet was a member of First Baptist Church of Chamblee and later Johns Creek Baptist Church.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents Leland and Martha Thomas. She Is survived by her brother, Leland Clovis Thomas, Jr., and several cousins and other family members.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:00 with a service at 11:00 at H. M. Patterson & Son – Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia, with Rev. Dr. David Sapp officiating.
