James Gray Winnette, Age 94, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on August 24, 2015. He was born on July 30, 1921 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Walter R. Winnette and Ola Mae Craft Winnette. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Gardenier Winnette in 1989 and two brothers; Walter M. Winnette and twin brother Charles R. Winnette. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering and served in the Navy until 1946. He was employed by Allis Chalmers for 25 years working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chattanooga, and Birmingham. In 1971, He became Co- Owner of Tri-State Utility Products, Inc. of Atlanta. The Company expanded to offices in Birmingham, Alabama, and Tallahassee, and Florida. James retired as president of Tri-State in the year 2000. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and after retirement especially enjoyed travel and playing golf. Survivors include his son, James W. Winnette (Loretta) and two grandchildren, Melissa and Christopher. A private family memorial will be held at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James G. Winnette’s memory to a charity of your choice.
