She is survived by her adoring husband, Arthur R. Dugger (age 97), her three children Kevin Dugger (wife Beth Denker), Adrienne Dugger, and Arlyn Peele (husband Scott Smith), and grandchildren Ashley Dugger, Alex Dugger, Emily Peele and Hannah Peele as well as step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved as her own.
Evelyn worked as a Registered Nurse as a young woman and was part of the 1952 graduating class from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing but after many years of professional nursing she left that career to care for her 3 children at home and become the “neighborhood nurse”, always being willing to help any time she was needed. She was an avid volunteer with school and outside activities related to her children as well as the Atlanta Opera, women’s groups with the Cathedral of St. Phillip and later at the Church of the Atonement in Sandy Springs which was the beloved church home for Evelyn and Art for decades.
Evelyn and Arthur were married for 65 short years and were devoted to each other. She was a loving wife and mother, adoring grandmother and a friend to all she met. Ask anyone about her and the overwhelming first response would be “She was so sweet!” Those who knew her loved her and she will certainly be missed.
Services will be held in the sanctuary of St. Martin Episcopal School (formerly Church of the Atonement), 4945 High Point Road NE, Sandy Springs GA 30342, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 2 p.m., with cocktails and wine afterward at the home of Kevin Dugger and Beth Denker, 5885 Pine Brook Road, Atlanta GA 30328. The service will video recorded and posted at the following link https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/735297280 no later than 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7th.
