Edith Anne Cruxent passed away peacefully on November 17 at age 86 after a courageous and dignified battle with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by three children, six grandchildren, her sons-in-law and cousins.
Born in Argentina and raised in Uruguay by her mother, she cherished her memories of summers with her grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins in Cordoba. She loved reconnecting with so many of her school chums from Uruguay over the past 15 years.
Anne was a professional for many years, working in the legal field, banking and eventually becoming a real estate broker. Yet the most impressive and admirable of her endeavors was her dedication to community leadership and volunteerism. Her fundraising work spanned many organizations near and dear to her heart including serving as president of the Parent Council at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy and multi-term president of the Patrons of the Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium. She also served as president of the Miami chapter of the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, raising money for music scholarships and organizing concert performances for promising young musicians, as well as serving her P.E.O sisterhood in their mission to help women around the world advance through education.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Florida Federation of Music Clubs. A private service will be held and a memorial mass will be announced at a future date.
