Dianne Loewenstein, age 86, passed away on April 8, 2022. Her life was filled with family, friends, world travel and many interests. She was an amazing parent to her three children – Rhonda, Craig, and Lisa. Dianne had a long, happy marriage to Howard Loewenstein, who pre-deceased her by 20 years. As far as a career, she had worked as a medical secretary for 20 years in both New York and Georgia.
Dianne was an incredibly kind and social person who worked hard to make everybody feel comfortable. She was known for hosting many social events for holidays such as New Year’s, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving and is known for ALWAYS providing way too much food. She never wanted anybody to go away hungry from a party – and guests typically brought home multiple days’ worth of food home.
Dianne also loved to cook and was known for her signature dishes such as Chicken Parmesan, Baked Ziti, Meatloaf, and of course Matzo Ball soup. In talking to her grandson (Sean Loewenstein), he fondly remembers the numerous times they cooked French Toast together (starting at age 4) and how they would frequently video conference through Skype and Echo Show’s. It’s a given that most grandparents love their grandchildren – but in Dianne’s case, the love and affection she showed for Julie, Desi, and Sean was without bounds.
She also loved the theater, artwork, painting, performing needlepoint and then doing the modern equivalent of "color by number" paintings on her tablet – she did over 1000 of them. Dianne also loved her cats and several – the latest being Honey II who she got after Honey I had passed. Dianne loved to travel – especially cruises – and has travelled much of the world. She also was an avid learner who frequently went to Emory Senior University with her friends. She is survived by 3 children, Rhonda Levan, Craig Loewenstein and Lisa Loewenstein, 3 grandchildren, and her twin brother Leon Mandell.
A closed small and private gravesite funeral will be performed on April 14.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Furkids.org, which is the largest, no-kill animal shelter in the Southeast.
