David was truly a colorful character who lived a full, interesting and extremely adventurous life. His loving wife, Gayle, was by his side as he transcended into his next great adventure.
During his service as a Marine Corps Sergeant, David was certified as an Expert Rifleman and he was a proud member of the Marine Corps Boxing Team.
After his time in the service, Dave went on to accomplish several post graduate degrees in business and economics. He enjoyed a long, distinguished and memorable career in corporate America with Bell Labs, AT&T and Bellsouth.
David loved traveling on his motorcycle and this passion allowed him to tour all 50 of the United States, parts of South America and all of the provinces and territories of Canada.
Dave was also an avid skydiver and experienced almost 300 jumps including 5 reserve rides that were the result of his main parachute failing to deploy. His favorite skydiving experiences include his three jumps from the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia and diving in team formations.
David was a curious, bright and complex character who enjoyed life immensely. He shared his enthusiasm for travel with his beloved wife and partner, Gayle Propes Denton. As world travelers, they visited 5 continents. One of their most treasured adventures was a lavish, destination wedding in Sri Lanka which included a traditional elephant ride during the ceremony.
Dave was a wonderful friend and dad to his children, David Sean Denton, Christopher Barry Denton and Glen Brockway Denton who he shared with their mother, Clarissa Rice. He was Grand D to his grandchildren, Savannah Gail Denton and Max Brockway Denton. David was a loving big brother to his sisters, Margot Ann Bartell-O’Neil and Susan Alexandra Bowles.
David touched the lives of many and will forever be missed by those who loved him.
A life so fully lived deserves a beautiful celebration. Services for Dave will take place on Monday, December 17 at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA. A visitation will be held at noon and funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. We will gather for a reception afterwards to share stories and cherished memories.
