Daisy Anderson Smith, 100, a gracious Southern lady, died on December 28, 2020 in Sandy Springs, GA after a long Alzheimer’s illness. She was born July 2, 1920 in Barnwell, SC. She married the late William Robert Smith in July, 1940 after graduating from Columbia College in May, 1940. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage and lived in Columbia, SC before moving to Atlanta, GA in 1961. Daisy was an elementary school teacher in Marietta, GA until she retired in the late 1970’s. She was very active in church activities at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC, playing the piano for Sunday School and being a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. In Atlanta, GA, she loved her Gene and Martha Wilson Sunday School Class at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and served as a member of Presbyterian Women, Sanctuary Saints and Knit Wits. She loved playing bridge, cooking and making creamy butter mints from an old family recipe to give to her friends at Christmastime. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her son William Robert “Bobby” Smith, Jr., her sister Norma Bailey Anderson and her husband Bob. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Andy and Janine Smith; four beloved grandchildren Bo Allen (Jeanette), Doug Allen (Amy), Donnie Smith (Leslie) and Natalie Smith; and 7 great grandchildren Justin Allen, Brandon Allen, Jake Allen, Daisy Grace Allen, Brody Anderson Smith, Charlotte Rosetta Smith and Lindsey Jacqueline Smith. The family is very grateful for the loving care of Daisy’s wonderful caregivers and Hospice. Due to the Covid-19 virus, a private service and interment will be held at Arlington Memorial Park.
