Charles W. Hutchins, Jr., 79, of Sandy Springs, GA died Monday, August 2, 2010. Mr. Hutchins graduated from Georgia Tech in 1954. Since 1949, he attended all Tech home football games. He worked for Lockheed for 40 years as an aeronautical engineer. During his career with Lockheed, he worked on about every aircraft designed and built during those years. He was a member of the Society of Allied Weights Engineers. Mr. Hutchins was an active member of Dunwoody Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also served on the Benevolence Committee and was involved in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry. Mr. Hutchins was predeceased by his first wife, Marie Farrer Hutchins; his parents, C.W. and Ruth Hutchins. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Smith Hutchins; daughter, Melinda (Tracy) Nevills of Louisville, KY; son, David Hutchins of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Annabelle Nevills of Louisville, KY; mother in law, Ora Belle Robinson of Bowdon, GA; sisters in law, Melvina Blocker of Wadley, GA, and Dawn (DeLane) Widner of Rabun Gap, GA; brother in law, Pete (Penny) Farrer of Ranburne, AL; and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 6-9:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 (light refreshments will be served). The Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1-2:00 p.m. at Dunwoody Baptist Church, 1445 Mt. Vernon Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Dunwoody Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or the American Cancer Society.
