Boyden Kinsey, III (Buck) of Sandy Springs died peacefully on February 26, 2014. He was born in Montreal, Canada on February 21, 1933, the son of the late Beatrice Collins Kinsey and Boyden Kinsey, Jr. The family moved to College Park, Georgia in 1946. He attended Phillips Andover Academy and was a cum laude graduate of Auburn University, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After graduating from college, he spent two years in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1957. He began his business career with the Citizens and Southern National Bank. In 1973 he joined the Robinson Humphrey Company in their municipal securities department, remaining there until 1981. He then founded Buckhead Securities, a municipal bond firm, with his business partner, Gary Weaks, leading the firm until his retirement in 1986. An avid sailor, Buck enjoyed spending his retirement on his ‘Swan 371,’ Katarina, on Lake Lanier and on occasional trips up the East Coast to Bermuda and to New England. He was a member of the University Yacht Club in Flowery Branch, serving as Commodore in 1996. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Buck is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor (Penny) [nee Prendergast,] his sons, William Boyden Kinsey of Atlanta, David Collins Kinsey (Emma,) of Nosara Beach, Costa Rica, daughter, Katherine Kinsey White (Chuck,) of Johns Creek and four grandchildren: Charles Alexander White, Bryan Christopher White, Brandon Michael White, of Johns Creek and Wyatt William Kinsey, of Nosara Beach, Costa Rica and a sister, Jane Kinsey White of Winder, Georgia. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2:00, p.m. at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, 805 Mt. Vernon Hwy., N.W., Atlanta, GA 30327, where Buck was a longtime member, the Rev. Michael R. Sullivan, officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00, p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., N.E., Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to Holy Innocent’s Episcopal Church, 805 Mt. Vernon Hwy., N.W., Atlanta, GA 30327 or to the University Yacht Club Maritime Foundation, 6649 Yacht Club Rd., Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
