Benjamin Gainer Smith II

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Saturday, December 09, 2023 at H.M Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, with Rev. Thomas Martin officiating. The family will receive friends and family immediately after the service at the funeral home. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

B.G. was born February 19, 1932 in Newburgh, NY and is the son of the late Marie Sheppard Smith and Benjamin Gainer Smith. He was married to his wife Alice Miller Smith for the past 67 years. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State College in 1967. This degree led to a long and successful career with Northside Reality, where in 1999, he retired as Senior Vice President and Comptroller for Northside Realty.

After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and helping to raise his 3 grandchildren. B.G. loved watching all types of sports, but was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcons fan. He enjoyed working in the yard and taking cruises with his wife and family.

B.G. will be missed tremendously by all of his family and friends, however, we know that God, his loving Heavenly Father, has a spectacular home prepared for him, where he is reunited with his parents and all those that proceeded him in death. One of his final requests was that no one feel sadness for his passing, only joy, knowing that he is no longer experiencing any suffering, sorrow, pain nor tears, but fully made whole and happy again.

B.G. was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Sheppard Smith and his father Benjamin Gainer Smith. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Alice Miller Smith, siblings: Elmaire Jenkins, his children Gainer Smith and Cary Smith; his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Stephanie Smith Barfoot and her husband Bryan Barfoot, Joseph Smith, his partner Brittany Miller and their daughter Evelyn Smith, Allen Smith and his wife Raleigh Wunderlich Smith.
