He was the beloved husband of Mary Bernardo Brooks of Cranston, RI and son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Brooks, of Philadelphia, PA. Raised in Philadelphia, Bill was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, attended Bryant College in Smithfield, RI, was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
Bill was Territory Manager for Biomet 3i. He was avid collector of Airline Industry and World War I & II memorabilia and a member of several historical societies and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He is survived by brothers Robert Brooks (Ann), Brian Brooks (Sharon) and Joseph Brooks and sisters, Nancy Sharp (Jack), Peggy Ireland, and Georgeann Maguire (Mike) and brother- in-law, Kip Crawford and was preceded by his sister, Mary Brooks Crawford. Bill is also survived by his 17 nieces and nephews and 9 grandnieces and nephews to whom he was known as Uncle Billy.
Bill touched the lives of many peopled with genuine kindness, and he kept his trademark quick wit and sense of humor all the way to end.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 9:00 a.m. from the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish, 3244 Quaker Meeting House Road, East Sandwich. Visitation Friday 4 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Jimmy Fund, Wounded Warriors Project or the Society of St. Vincent De Paul.
