Peter was in the army during the Korean War as a Language Interpreter. Outside of the military, he was a chemist at Natick Laboratories where he focused on research and development for NASA and military soldiers' food rations. He was very proud to have served his country. In addition, he served as a member and chairman for the Franklin School Committee.
Peter was predeceased by his wife Lois (Holmes) Burke, his two sisters; Sheila Burke, Kathleen (Burke) Webster, and his infant triplet sons; Peter, Patrick and Paul.
He is survived by his lady friend of 19 years, Yvonne Giombetti, his sons Timothy, Michael and his wife, Marjorie, and his daughter Bonnie, as well as 7 beloved grandchildren and his blue ribbon cat "Blarney".
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
In lieu of flowers Peter's wish was that you donate to the Spina Bifida Association at www.spinabifidaassociation.org in honor of his late sister Sheila.
