John Joseph Gillis

In 1960, John met the love of his life, Alma; and in 1964 they were married. Two years later, they moved to East Sandwich.

John was a very hard worker, and he devoted his entire life to his work and his family. He was a pipe fitter at Stone & Webster Construction, among others. He often traveled to work, to Canada, New Hampshire, and Maine. He enjoyed reading, and was an avid walker. He was a devout Catholic, and walked to Mass at Corpus Christi Parish daily.

He is survived by his wife Alma E. Gillis; his three sons, Kevin, Ian, and Charles Gillis; one granddaughter, Elizabeth; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29 from 5-7 PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rt 6A, Sandwich, MA 02563. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 30 at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Grove Street, Sandwich, MA 02563. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Corpus Christi Parish.
