James E. Sherman, Jr.

He was the loving husband of Margaret (Wallwork) Sherman, and the brother of Mary Lou Alla of Sandwich, the late Mildred Conroy and the late Eleanor Rectanus. He was also the beloved father of James E. Sherman, III and his wife Lisa; Phillip J. Sherman and his wife Melissa; Daniel J. Sherman; Kathleen Murphy and her husband Michael; and Deborah O’Sullivan and her husband Michael; the beloved grandfather of Colin, Claire, Thomas, Harrison, Hannah, Ryan and Casey and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Retired to Sagamore, he enjoyed life on the Canal watching the boats, and spent joyous days in West Dennis playing bridge, wiffle ball and croquet with his many friends, children and grandchildren. He was also a veteran of the US Army.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 4 to 7pm in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich. A private burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
