Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Pease, 97, formerly of Rockland and Cotuit, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at Keystone Place in Buzzards Bay, where she had resided since 2015. Born March 20, 1927, in Hyannis, she was the daughter of Cecil B. and Hazel M. (Lutz) Goodall. Betty grew up in Cotuit, attended Cotuit Grammar School, and graduated from Barnstable High School. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1948, with a B.S. in Education. While at UMass, Betty met Robert D. (Bob) Pease, a veteran of World War II, who had served as an instructor pilot in the U.S. Army. They were married on June 19, 1948 in Cotuit, and lived together for 37 years until his death in 1985. Betty taught Home Economics at Rockland High School from 1968 until 1982, for years as the head of the Home Ec department. Practicing what she preached, Betty was a skilled master of many crafts, including all kinds of needlework and, in later years, was a talented artist, decorating t-shirts, creating greeting cards, and adorning ceramics, as well as producing beautiful stand-alone scenes of landscapes and flowers. Betty never had a harsh word for anyone, was a friend to all, and was loved and admired by all who were blessed to know her.
Betty and Bob were parents to seven children: Bruce R. (Elaine) of Holly Ridge, NC; Sandra L. (Dave) Healey, of Lititz, PA; Sheila M. (Mike) Mills, of Plymouth, MA; Kevin G. (Donna), of St. Petersburg, FL; Gary D., of Ocean Shores, WA; and Jana G. Lefavor, of Sandwich, MA. She was predeceased by daughter Marcia B., in 2015, and son-in-law Richard W. Lefavor, in 2023. Betty was better known as Nana to her fourteen grandchildren (two of whom predeceased her) and nineteen great-grandchildren.
