BOLINDER. Elizabeth Ann (Shannon) 72, of Hyannis, MA, passed away on September 27, 2024, at her home after a short but brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving children Amy, Matt, and her dog Lucy and many family and friends. She was born in Brockton, MA to the late Robert Emmet Shannon, and Katherine Lucy Shannon (McGee) on August 30, 1952.
Elizabeth grew up in Abington and graduated from Abington High School. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, photography, and spending time with her family. She graduated from Cape Cod Community College and Bridgewater State College with degrees in Social Work. She spent over 20 years working at Independence House, where she counseled victims of domestic abuse.
Liz loved living on Cape Cod and truly made a difference in her community and the lives of others. She accepted everyone for who they were, no matter what. Liz was a source of stability and strength to all. She had such a reassuring way of helping you understand what was happening, why, and how to make sense of a situation.
She is survived by her children; Amy Munroe and her husband Scott Munroe, her son Matt Bolinder and wife Devan Bolinder, her grandchildren Tara Munroe, Erik Munroe, Liam Bolinder and Maren Bolinder; her sister Sheila Lambert, sister Kathleen Richardson, brother Timothy Shannon and his wife Taryen Shannon. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who knew her as "Favorite Aunt Liz", and her beloved dog Lucy. Her brother Robert Shannon preceded her in passing.
Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4th from 4-7 pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rt. 6A Sandwich, MA. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11 am in the funeral home.
