It must be amazing to see a rainbow from above. Where the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true. Listen carefully and you will hear Don’s laughter in the clouds.
Don was the Sales Manager of the Northeast for Deluxe Check Printers, devoting 37 years to the company. A pioneer in the industry, Don aided in the creation and implementation of many of the aspects in the physical creation and printing of checks. The company even now have placed several items in the museum of their headquarters in memory of all that Don had done for them.
Don was beloved by all that knew him, remembered most for his persistent smile and laughter. Excelling in all sports, and a fan of each in turn, golf was his favorite with one of his proudest moments being a hole-in-one. He was A 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a longtime usher for Corpus Christi Church in Sandwich, a member of the Canal Gang, and the Capers Club.
Don leaves behind Joanne, his beloved wife of 57 years. His son Mark and his wife Mary of Burlington, daughter Robin and her husband Gregory of Winchester. Grandfather to Maureen, Meghan, Michael, Jamie, and Tyler. Brother to Valerie Winters of Florida. He also leave many nieces, nephews, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his brother Hap Winters.
A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, February 23, from 4:00pm to 7:30pm in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home located at 154 Route 6A, in Sandwich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 24, at 11:00am in the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, in East Sandwich. Burial will follow in Sandwich Town Cemetery.
