Cory Dean Schemenaur was born November 1st 1966 in Hinsdale, Illinois. He was one of three boys who spent their childhood laughing, joking and loving one another. He met his high school sweetheart Caitlin Schemenaur in 1985, the same year he graduated from Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, CT. After graduation, he continued on to Mattatuck College in Waterbury, CT receiving his Associates degree in 1987. Additionally he spent time following high school as a volunteer firefighter in Woodbury, CT. With a shared passion for the ocean, Cory and Caitlin moved to Cape Cod in 1990. They were married on May 15th, 1993 at the First Church in Sandwich.
Cory’s work promotions and accomplishments were lengthy. He was named “Top Producer” in the country 8 out of 12 months in 2014 and nationally ranked as the number one loan officer in the country in 2006 and 2007, among many other achievements. By far his greatest achievement in life was the loving family he built with his wife Caitlin. Together they raised three incredible boys, Jacob, Jordan, and Carson. Cory was dedicated to spending time with his boys on the water, at the hockey rink, and at home. He spent most of his days taking his boys to sports practices, always encouraging them to try everything. Whether they were surfing, dirt biking, fishing, or any of the other many activities Cory encouraged, he was steadfastly there to support them.
Cory was an adventurer who loved to explore shipwrecks, take his boys diving, and take the family on incredible vacations. By far one of the most notable things about Cory was his one of a kind sense of humor. The sarcasm, the jokes, the sharp wit and most importantly his wonderful and contagious laugh. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a proud coach, an involved father, a diver, and above all a truly incredible man.
He is survived by his wife Caitlin, his sons Jacob, 21, Jordan, 18, and Carson, 15. He is also survived by his father James, his mother Jamie, and his brother David, as well as many loving immediate and extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother Brian Schemenaur.
