

Christopher Vannata died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 following a long illness at the age of 38. Born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Marshfield, MA., he was a graduate of Marshfield High School and attended Northeastern University.
He spent the majority of his adult life serving with honor in The United Sates Coast Guard, stationed in Gloucester, MA and New Haven CT where he worked as a Marine Science Technician. He received many personal and service/team/unit awards during his service with the Coast Guard including: Personal Awards: CG Commendation Medal (2), Commandant's Letter of Commendation Ribbon (3), CG Good Conduct Medal (3), CG Rifle Marksmen Ribbon, CG Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon. Service/ Team /Unit Award: CG Presidential Unit Citation, DOT 9-11 Ribbon.
Christopher is survived by his parents Jane Fitzpatrick and Michael R. Vannata Sr. of Naples, Florida, formerly of Marshfield, MA ; his sister, Margaret Kenney of Marshfield; brother Michael Vannata Jr of Bethlehem, PA; sister Mary K. Vannata of Plymouth, MA. He has three nephews Sean Vannata, Nolan Vannata, and John Dumke and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road in East Sandwich. Burial will be immediately following at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
