Cheryl was born in Du Bois, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1947 to the late Henry and Blanche (Zavatsky) Klebacha. Cheryl grew up in Reynoldsville, Penn., and graduated from high school in 1965. Cheryl met her future husband Jim in 1969 while they were both working at a pizza pub in Pittsburgh, and she had fond memories of the city’s Shadyside neighborhood.
Jim and Cheryl were married in 1971 and then moved to Florida in 1973. They moved to Massachusetts in the mid-80s. Cheryl worked at Western New England College while Jim earned his JD there. Their daughter Caitlin was born and the family moved to Cape Cod, eventually settling in Sandwich. Cheryl was an avid reader, and worked for 10 years at the Well-Read Book bookstore in town. She loved cozy mysteries and would bring home many books to share with Jim and Caitlin. She also worked at Carter’s in Sagamore before retiring a few years ago.
Cheryl was a gardener who loved to watch the hummingbirds and orioles come to the feeders among her flower pots on the back porch. She was particularly proud of her very tall sunflowers and tomato plants. Cheryl loved animals and leaves behind her beloved maltipoo, Willow; cat, Charlie; and two finches. May the menagerie of pets she had throughout her life meet her at the Rainbow Bridge.
Cheryl is survived by daughter Caitlin E. Cuccia (Weaver), son-in-law Isaac Cuccia and grandson Alexander of Weymouth, Mass.; brother Robert Klebacha of Penn.; sister Irene Hunt of Florida, brother Edward Klebacha of Florida; and several dozen nieces and nephews across the country. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Jim, and her brothers Frank and George.
A visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 9th at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. Burial will be private.
