Bruce "Buck" Lionel Buckley

Bruce (“Buck”) Lionel Buckley, age 82, of Sandwich, MA passed away at McCarthy Care Center on April 4, 2025. He was born in Quincy, MA to the late Lionel (“Shine”) and Marjorie (Comis) Buckley. He was the husband of the late Nancy A. (Hardy) Buckley and loving father of Bridget, of Sandwich. Devoted grandfather of Arianna and Caroline.

Bruce graduated from Quincy High School, served in the National Guard, and protected citizens as a Massachusetts State Police Trooper. He was assigned to patrol and investigative bureaus across the state, including Topsfield, Framingham, Foxboro, Logan Airport, the AG’s office in Boston, Norwell, Middleboro, Bourne, and South Yarmouth. Bruce dedicated his life to protecting and ensuring the safety and well-being of others. With over 43 years of service to Massachusetts, he earned the respect of colleagues and citizens for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication to justice. His bravery and commitment were recognized with awards including the Medal of Valor and the Red Cross Good Samaritan Hero award.

Bruce cherished adventures with his family, including road trips to Florida, camping, summers at his and Nancy’s Maine home, and boating in the Mid-Coast Maine waterways.

Bruce had many hobbies and interests over the years, including fishing, wooden boat model building, racquetball, collecting matchbox cars, stamps and coins. Life-time member of the Quincy Brooms Golf League. A true Boston sports fan of the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. More recently enjoyed driving his two Ford Mustang race cars, chatting with friends at the Canal, and spending time with his daughter and granddaughters over coffee, donuts, and stories.

Bruce is survived by his daughter, Bridget, granddaughters Arianna and Caroline, his brothers Brian and his wife Nancy, Bradford, and Brett and his wife Lisa, and in-laws Doris, Susan and her husband Fran, and many cousins and lots of friends.

Bruce will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his courage, compassion and dedication to making the world a safer and better place. His legacy of service and love will live in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.

To honor Bruce’s life and legacy, visitation will be from 10am-12pm Friday, April 11th, 2025 at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte. 6A, Sandwich, MA. A funeral service will follow from 12-12:30pm. A graveside service will be held at 12:45pm at Sandwich Town Cemetery, Rte.130, Sandwich, MA. All are welcome to all services.
