Anthony P. Teixeira

Anthony P. Teixeira, 63, died June 17, 2017 in New Hampshire in a motorcycle accident during his most favorite time of the year, Laconia Bike Week. Whether you knew him as Anthony, Tony, Tex, Dad, Uncle, or Papa, you always knew what you were going to get; a loyal, passionate, hard-working, tell it like it is, loving man.

Anthony grew up in Hopedale, MA with his older brother, the late John Teixeira, parents Acacio and Antonetta (DeLuca) Teixeira, and grandparents he adored on the farm he loved. Anthony graduated from Hopedale High School in 1972 and married the love of his life, Lenora Teixeira (Zacchilli). They moved to Wyoming for new adventures before settling in Sandwich, MA to raise a family. Tex was an incredibly supportive father to his two children. You could always find him coaching a baseball team or watching every game. Anthony participated in Sandwich community activities, various rod and gun clubs, and was a past president of the South Shore Plumbing and Gas Inspectors Association. When he wasn’t doing that, he was puttering around his house meticulously working on countless projects. Anthony worked as the plumbing and gas inspector for the Town of Dennis, maddening plumbers in the business, for 28 years.

Anthony is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Lee Teixeira, son Jason Teixeira, daughter Kendra Simmons, son-in-law David Simmons, and grandson Aiden Teixeira all of Sandwich; his aunts, Mamie Ferreira and Hilda Joy; his uncle and aunt, Antonio Jr. and Rosemary Teixeira; many cousins, his in-laws Susan Teixeira of Sandwich, Maryellen Kearnan, Nick and Linda Zacchilli, and Joe and Peg Zacchilli of Milford, MA; scores of co-workers and friends who loved him dearly, and many nieces and nephews who will always remember their crazy Uncle Tex. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 11am-2pm, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA 02563.
