Tonight is January 18th, 2020. I am a very progressive intuitive and always have been. Probably Greg Batlin is the only one here that would know that about me if he remembers. I was guided by my once close friend “Cuneo” as we called him! We shared some wild times as just close friends before he married. I had cats and he told me that he saved kittens from a dumpster while he was with Golden Gate! He came to my apartment on Russian Hill and told me the story! He made me swear to never tell anyone he was a softie. He used to come with flowers and visit just as a close friend. I miss you Bob. We will meet again when it is my time. RIP~ Love always Yvonne~

I worked with Bob for several years at Golden Gate.
I first met him  when assigned to do a route ride-a-long.  He was polite but not afraid to let  it be known he was not happy to have someone in his work space and show the gritty realities of picking up trash in downtown SF.  
There is no doubt he was a hard worker and knew the city and many of it's night time characters well.  
He eventually warmed up apon learning we shared the same birthday and a love of cats.    He was thoughtful enough to occasionally help me with a bag of food for the feral cats I fed that lived in the yard.
Him and his sweet wife would always stop by my desk to say Hello when he visited the office after he retired.
He was a tough city guy on the outside but was a bit of a softie on the inside.  Bob's personality and kindness will not be forgotten.

Robert Cuneo was best described as a paradox. Politically incorrect, often boisterous or brash, but  always funny!

To many of his longtime friends, especially those who remember the music-blasting, Z28-driving party animal, he retained an effervescent young spirit, even after diabetes took its toll in a long series of hospitalizations. 
 As the years fell past, many friendships drifted away, but he maintained a few very loyal, close buddies who would do anything for Bob, and did--including rushing him to the ER, repeatedly, visiting him during his lengthy hospitalizations at Marin General, St Francis and the convalescent centers.  defending Bob against those quick to see his his flaws. These buddies know the true meaning of friendship, which means accepting your friends in their entirety.  These few friends know who they are, and so did Bob--though he didn't often show it.  

The flip side of the paradox was a man who few saw, who truly loved his wife, Susan, for over 20 years  of marriage.  (Please remember his widow in your prayers, it has been a challenging few years.)  Bob was devoted to his dad, his late mom, and his friends.  He was funny, generous and kind to me.  I don't forget people like Bob.

Rest in peace, paisan. You put up quite a fight. You've earned your rest. ✝️

Bob Cuneo was a true friend. He had all   those good qualities which  accompany true friendship .I shall miss him. 

Bob Cuneo is part of my wonderful and vivid memories of growing up Italian and full of pep and vitality in San Francisco.  Together, with so many other friends sharing a common background, we spent endless nights & years at the Marina Greens (and elsewhere) blowing off steam and just being our true selves.    We whiled away the hours and it doesn't get better than that.  Bob got my attention one night when he held me dangling over the seawall for quite some time, for reasons unknown/not remembered!  I'll never forget him and his powerful personality and I'm so glad I got to speak with him at last year's SFIAC reunion party.   He leaves behind an impression of what it means to be oneself and be proud of it.  


Bobby was a proud San Francisco native .    Raised in North Beach He worked for Golden Gate disposal  company later to be named Recology. A very difficult job which  caused Bobby several aches and pains. However he worked through his injuries and retired from Recology.

Bobby met his wife Susan during his high school years . He later married Susan and remained remained together until his passing. Susan remained by Bobby’s side caring for him during his two year illness.

Bobby was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. Known for being a tough guy he was actually a sweet and very generous man.
He also had a great sense of humor . He loved his family and friends and the wonderful city he grew up in.
