Maurice hired me and mentored me at San Quentin in 2006. He was kind,  savvy,  and made positive work possible because he knew everyone in every position, knew their family members names, knew how the machinery of the institution operated, and how a thing could be accomplished.  It was possible for me to find ways to bring respect, hope, and kindness in to the inmates and staff. Maurice had a whimsical sense of humor, and was a wicked gourmet cook. I shall miss him always.

Rest in peace, Maurice. Your gym friends know that you're keeping your work out schedule in that Big Gym in the sky.  Bob

Dr. Lyons as most of us from his San Quentin State Prison family knew him was well respected by his peers and the staff at the Prison. I personally worked closely with Dr. Lyons throughout my career while working together in the prison infirmary or when were worked together on the Negotiating Management Team. Dr. Lyons was also a key member on the prisons Employee Post Trauma Team for many year. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. (Ret.)
