Bernadette Meyler

Bernadette M. Meyler, age 76 years, of Belvedere, CA, passed away December 25th, 2015. Bernadette was born in Wexford, Ireland on April 18th, 1939 but moved to Belvedere in the early 1970’s. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife and grandmother who will always be remembered for her kindness, sunny spirit and sense of style.

Bernadette immigrated to the United States to marry Stanley Meyler in April of 1965. In January 1966 they moved to Toronto, Canada to allow her husband to continue his post-graduate studies. In July of 1969 they returned to the United States and settled in Tiburon-Belvedere, CA to raise a family.

Bernadette was a member of the Driftwood Foundation, and at one time president of the Board of Directors. She was a member of St. Hilary’s church, where she participated in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the women’s associate group of St. Hilary.

Bernadette was a long-time member of the Tiburon Peninsula Club and was active in tennis leagues such as the Napa-Sonoma league. In later years she took up golf, which she also enjoyed. Other interests included travel, including multiple trips to Europe, but particularly back to Ireland to visit her family.

For many years Bernadette attended and enjoyed the ACT Theater in San Francisco each season with a close group of friends. She also enjoyed gardening and adored spending time with her grandchildren whenever possible.

Bernadette is survived by her husband Stanley Meyler of Belvedere, her daughter Stephanie Meyler of Santa Rosa, her son Stuart Meyler and wife Allison, their children Henry and Lily of Ridgefield, CT; and son David Meyler and wife Trish and their children Zach and Ben, of San Clemente, CA. She is also survived by her siblings, Vera DiBona of Wilmington, North Carolina and Mary Sturgill of Bethesda, Maryland in the United States, and Ann Dundon, Phyllis O’ Connor, Harry Wilson and Billy Wilson in Ireland.

Funeral mass will be held at St Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Tiburon at 11:30am on January 16th.
