Delmer Gene Lawson went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on January 12, 2013 after a prolonged illness. He was blessed with visits from his brother, children, grandchildren and many friends as well as the constant support of his wife, Muriel throughout his illness.
Delmer was born in Ovid, Colorado but spent most of his life in California and Nevada serving God as a Pastor. He married Muriel Gregg on May 15, 1953 and together they reared four children.
Delmer Gene Lawson is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Muriel Gregg Lawson, his daughter, Deborah Gaytan and Julia Orlicky, his sons, Stephen and Daniel Lawson and their spouses, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild, and one brother Edwin Lawson.
Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, pastor, mentor, humanitarian....Dad was all that and more. He genuinely cared about people and showed it. When he answered the phone, "Hello, Jesus loves you and so do we" anyone who knew him knew those weren't just idle words. Several years ago, Dad began to express his concern to me that he had not been as good a father as he could have been. Well, please know that if I had the choice of any man to be my father, I could choose no better that the man God gave me. Because of the example he set for me, I can be thankful I told him that while he was with us. In clearer terms, during his short, almost 81 years, Dad was a shining light to everyone with whom he came in contact with. True to his nature, he was smiling and making his own decisions until the end. I will thank my heavenly Father for my earthly Father all the days of my life. Delmer and Muriel Lawson are the finest parents anyone could hope for. Mom is never to be forgotten for being Dad's partner, support system, and greatest fan for almost 60 years. Thanks Dad and Mom for all you are and for all you have done. Thank you God for sharing Delmer Gene and Muriel M. Gregg Lawon with me.
..........From the Heart of Stephen Gene Lawson
